Creating Opportunities, One Skill at a Time

Some partnerships are special because of what they represent, and our new partnership with Craft School South Africa is one we are truly excited about.

Based in Cape Town, Craft School South Africa is a non-profit, non-fee-paying school making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people through practical, skills-based training. By giving students the opportunity to learn a trade, develop their talents and gain valuable hands-on experience, the school is helping them build towards a future filled with possibility.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the school and meeting the 22 students currently completing their Furniture-Making course. Seeing their work, admiring the furniture they have been creating and learning more about their training was a wonderful experience. It was inspiring to see the dedication going into their craft and the opportunities that this kind of training can create.

As part of this new partnership, Pienaar Brothers donated 22 sets of workwear, comprising jackets and trousers, safety boots, safety goggles and a welding helmet.

While having the correct protective equipment is essential for keeping students safe in the classroom, its importance extends well beyond the school’s workshop. Their training also involves gaining practical experience with local woodworkers, where they can apply their skills in a real working environment. Having the appropriate PPE is a necessary requirement for accessing these workplace learning opportunities and learnerships.

It means that something as fundamental as a pair of safety boots or a set of workwear can play a role in helping a student take the next step in their training. By ensuring they have the necessary protection, we hope to help remove one of the barriers that could otherwise stand in the way of valuable experience and future opportunities.

It was a genuine pleasure to spend time with the students and see first-hand the difference Craft School South Africa is making. We are proud to begin this partnership with an organisation that is investing in the potential of South Africa’s youth and giving young people the opportunity to turn their skills into something meaningful.

We look forward to following the students’ progress and seeing where their talents take them. Here’s to new beginnings, valuable skills and a future full of possibility.
