That belief has shaped Pienaar Brothers’ long-standing commitment to education and community development.
We are deeply committed to the professional growth of our team members. Our investment in external training programs stands as a testament to this, offering a diverse range of opportunities for upskilling – from obtaining driver’s or forklift licenses and improving computer skills, to supporting further education.
In 2016, we launched our Internal Schooling Programme to assist previously disadvantaged employees with completing their schooling. Three times a week, an external teacher guides participants through basic literacy and numeracy, up to a matric equivalent qualification, allowing individuals to resume their education from where they left off. Importantly, participants can attend during work hours without any deduction from their pay.
For many years, Pienaar Brothers has proudly partnered with IKAMVA Labantu, a respected women-led organisation that has been uplifting vulnerable communities across Cape Town for more than 60 years. Through this partnership, we support early childhood development initiatives that provide children with the best opportunity to focus on building their future.
In addition to our community partnerships, Pienaar Brothers invests approximately R900,000 annually in higher education bursaries. These bursaries support talented students from previously disadvantaged communities attending the University of Cape Town, the University of the Western Cape and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, providing opportunities for academic achievement and long-term career success.
